Redefining Media & Communication Careers in a Post-Pandemic World by Professor Mark McMahon

School of Media and Communication (SOMAC), Taylor's University was honoured to host a webinar in collaboration with Edith Cowan University's School of Arts and Humanities. The webinar, titled "Redefining Media and Communication Careers in a Post-Pandemic World," was presented by Professor Mark McMahon, ECU's International and Strategic Director. The webinar attracted 140 people.

Prof. McMahon raised a few pertinent points while musing on how the pandemic had impacted the media landscape in general. As the world continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, it became clear that post-pandemic cultures and economies would be fundamentally altered, both regionally and globally.

He went on to speculate on the likely outcome of these changes for emerging careers in the industry, noting that future graduates may find themselves in new roles and industries that are difficult to predict. As a result, academics, students, and industry must be prepared to embrace and prepare for these changes through the development of a variety of skills and attributes that will make graduates resilient and highly employable in a rapidly changing work environment.
