Dr. Benjamin Loh, Senior Lecturer from School of Media and Communication, Taylor's University and associate of the Asia Center, Bangkok published his final op-ed of 2021 with Malaysiakini. The article, “Saving Malaysia Through Social Media Mobilisation” addresses how Malaysians saved themselves through the flood crisis in December through the power of social media as the government sat by with little action.
Social media was both a tool to keep the lackadaisical government in check and to help mobilize relief efforts and was a shining example of the indomitable strength and will of Malaysians who stepped up where their government failed.
