Sustainable Weddings: Crafting Love Stories with Eco-Conscious Splendour

In a rapidly changing environment, universities play a vital role in shaping the future of various industries, including event management. A recent co-teaching session on Sustainable Wedding Planning, led by Miss Dhiya Hikmahana, the Module Leader for 'Design for Event', exemplified the institution's dedication to providing comprehensive education and nurturing not just proficient Event Managers, but conscientious leaders poised to navigate the evolving demands of the industry. The session featured guest speakers, Ms. Juvien Sia and Ms. Laverne Chee, the Co-Founders of Eventistry, a full-service event planning company based in Kuala Lumpur.

Eventistry, previously known as The Wedding Project and The Party Project Malaysia, rebranded itself in 2019 to focus on socially responsible, environmentally friendly, and sustainable practices. They are also a Member of the Association of Wedding Professionals Malaysia, and a Certified Green Wedding Professional (The Green Bride Guide). Eventistry has been recognized as the Best Wedding Planners in Malaysia in 2022 and the Top 10 Event Stylists in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor in 2021. During the sharing session, Ms. Laverne focused on sustainable event decoration, providing valuable insights and practices employed by Eventistry in planning sustainable weddings.

The students found the session highly informative, and the knowledge gained was directly applicable to their broader understanding of event planning. One key takeaway was the importance of meticulous planning and attention to detail in ensuring a seamless and unforgettable event experience for clients and their guests. The students also learned about reducing waste from decoration elements by repurposing them for home or office decoration after the event. This deep dive into sustainable wedding planning has been a transformative learning experience for the students, reshaping their understanding of creating magical yet environmentally mindful celebrations.

It's not just about the events; it's about shaping a responsible, impactful future in the industry!
