Engaged with Mr. Victor Foo, Former Vice President of Hotel Operations for Resort World Genting

Nothing is more valuable than learning a life lesson from a wise man. Taylor’s Culinary Institute had the privilege to invite Mr. Victor Foo, retired Vice President of Hotel Operations, Resorts World Genting who managed over 10,000 rooms under his portfolio just before he retired. The sharing session entitled “How the Hospitality Industry Will Come Back Even Stronger In 2 Years’ Time” was organised for both students and lecturers of Diploma in Hotel Management and Diploma in Culinary Arts.

Armed with his professional studies and development programmes from industry renowned institutes such as the Swiss Les Roches, Cornell, Harvard, CHA by AHLA, Masters Degree in International Hospitality Management from Toulouse, France and vast experiences from diverse foreign and local hotel portfolios, it is of no surprise that Mr. Foo has the HAPA GM of the year award under his belt. Mr. Foo has faced many setbacks in his career. He believes that the current pandemic is just another drop in trend line towards a stronger industry for the future.

The interactive session candidly allowed Mr. Victor to share his successful and colourful journey with the students. He generously shared his views and opinions while answering the students’ questions, often inspiring them to have passion for what they do. He also encouraged them to accept and own up to their mistakes, to learn from the mistakes made, to genuinely care about others, and to make sound choices and take action regardless of the challenges. Mr. Foo aptly states, ‘the only way to achieve better things in life, is to better oneself everyday’.
