In this series of event speaker series for Event Technology for Entertainment module, Ms. Samantha Lau was invited to share her view on "Digital Event Platforms and App". Ms. Samantha is the Senior Executive Events Operation at Aavii Worldwide and an alumna of the Bachelor of International Tourism Management (Events Management) programme under the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events (SHTE).
She started her career path in a Destination Management Company (DMC) in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) division for 6 years, followed by a year in an exhibition company and currently back to the MICE industry. Ms. Samantha shared the types of digital platforms and apps used for digital events, hybrid events and webinars. With the new norm of people working from home, countries in lockdown, her company had to convert physical events to virtual/hybrid events, livestream or webinar which was not popular prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was something new for both the clients and the company.
The session ended with a Q&A session where students were excited and asked questions on challenges in organizing virtual events and experiences dealing with unforeseen circumstances. All the students enjoyed the session and gained additional insights on digital event platforms and apps, which is useful for the module as well as industry knowledge.
