Is it possible to have successful events or activities that promote environmental consciousness? With our series of “Insights from Industry Leaders”, the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events (SHTE) was delighted to host an online session by a dynamic duo on 3rd November 2020, Monday at 2pm via Zoom. Mr. Daniel Quilter, Managing Director of Fuze Ecoteer and Founding Director of Ecoteer.com and Ms. Aida Quilter, ISO Certifies Auditor Sustainability Consultant, Conservation Practitioner and Honorary Wildlife Warden are not only passionate about the environment, but also live it every day in their personal lives and careers.
The session was attended by like-minded yet diverse crowd consisting of students and lecturers as well as volunteers of NGOs and environmental enthusiasts. During the session, they were captivated by the demonstration on how discarded plastic was transformed into trinkets and useful items. Mr. Daniel and Ms. Aida continued to astound the audience on how yarn was spun from cigarette butts. Who would have expected a topic about waste & rubbish would be so interesting? Mr. Daniel Quilter and Ms. Aida Quilter definitely hit the mark with this session on waste management for sustainable events. This session is part of Taylor's University's initiative in line with United Nation Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) towards the environment.
