The School of Media and Communication, Taylor’s University has recently organized a Public Relations Webinar with Datuk Lat, the Malaysian cartoonist, who is best known with his series of comics 'Kampong Boy’, as the guest speaker. Datuk Lat was the first recipient of the Honorary Doctorate Award conferred by the School of Media and Communication during Taylor's convocation in October 2019.
The theme of webinar was ‘Learning Through Creativity’ and Datuk Lat shared his experience as a little boy in a small village in Perak, Malaysia where he grew up. He also described how he drew in detail the situations he went through, to put in his cartoons. During his presentation, he stressed that his drawings were meant as entertainment, never to laugh and belittle others.
The Moderator of webinar was Ms. Nur Balqis Ahmad Jaidi, Year 1 student of Bachelor of Mass Communication (Advertising). The webinar was attended by 118 participants.
