Strengthening Professional Integrity: Roundtable Discussion on the ECE Code of Ethics in Malaysia

The Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Council organised a Roundtable Discussion (RTD) centred on the review and refinement of the Ethics for Early Childhood Professionals in Malaysia Code of Ethics (CoE). Representing the School of Education (SoEd), Senior Lecturer and Early Childhood Education (ECE) & Special Educational Needs (SEN) Stream Coordinator, Ms. Revati Ramakrishnan, was invited to serve as a panellist, reflecting the school’s continued commitment to advancing quality early childhood education and contributing to national educational development.

The RTD convened key stakeholders from across the ECCE sector, including academics, practitioners, policymakers, and industry representatives. Through meaningful dialogue and collaborative engagement, participants explored current challenges, emerging trends, and evolving professional expectations within the ECCE landscape to ensure that the Code of Ethics remains relevant, practical, and responsive to the needs of the profession.

Participation in this significant national initiative provided the school with a valuable platform to contribute professional expertise and informed perspectives towards strengthening ethical standards and practices for early childhood professionals in Malaysia. The discussions also generated valuable insights that may further inform and enhance curriculum development, ensuring that academic programmes remain aligned with contemporary professional standards and industry expectations.

Beyond the exchange of ideas, the RTD also strengthened networking and collaborative opportunities with prominent ECCE stakeholders, fostering closer partnerships between SoEd and the wider industry.
