Clinical practicum is a cornerstone of the Master of Clinical Psychology programme at Taylor's University. Among the diverse options available to students, hospital placements are particularly popular due to the wide range of clients, clinical experiences, and multidisciplinary learning opportunities they offer. We are delighted to share the news of Taylor's Master of Clinical Psychology programme sealed a Supplementary Agreement with the Ministry of Health, Government of Malaysia in August 2023.
The Supplementary Agreement were signed by Dato’ Sri Norazman Ayob, Deputy Secretary-General (Finance) from the Ministry of Health on behalf of the Government of Malaysia, and Professor Michael Driscoll, Vice-Chancellor, Taylor’s University; in the presence of Dato’ Dr Asmayani Bt Khalib, Deputy Director General of Health (Medical), Ministry of Health Malaysia, and Professor Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, Taylor’s University.
Prior to the signing, Taylor’s University has invited the National Cancer Institute for a visitation to Lakeside Campus. Multiple collaborative opportunities were also being discussed during the visitation and meeting. With this Supplementary Agreement, it allows Taylor's students to undertake external clinical practicum at the National Cancer Institute, supervised by experienced Clinical Psychology Officers. The National Cancer Institute's unique nature ensures that our students gain unparalleled exposure to cancer patients and clinical clients. They will also benefit from the expertise of experienced Clinical Psychology Officers and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting.
The Supplementary Agreement signifies the beginning of a well-established and a fruitful relationship between both parties, promising our students an enriching and impactful clinical practicum experience. We anticipate this collaboration will lead to more cooperative activities and events, further enriching our students' academic journeys.
