A group of academicians led by Dr. Logendra Stanley Ponniah, Head of School, School of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, Taylor's University, together with Prof. Moses Stephens Gunams Samuel, Ms. Hema Letchumanan, Dr. P. Thivilojana and Ms. Norhayati Maskat, planned and executed several strategies to promote learning from home approaches for the B40 and M20 families by creating several videos, which advocated parental involvement in teaching and learning from home, and online pedagogical approaches for Maths, Science and English modules in April 2020.
These videos were shared with more than 50 families from the B40 and M20 group. Based on the survey that was carried out by the Taylor’s Community, these videos were well received by these groups. Furthermore, the videos were shared with parents using two platforms mainly Whatsapp and Telegram.
Overall, most parents have mentioned that they have benefited from these videos as they serve as a useful guide in assisting parents in managing their children’s learning better during the Movement Control Order period.
