Tourism Webinar Series

The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events has organized a Tourism Webinar Series covering different current tourism topics specifically impacted by COVID-19. These sessions were designed for Taylor's students and academic staffs. The webinar was opened to the public which attracted a number of participants from various countries.


The first series was held on 12th June 2020 and the topic was on “Shifting Global Tourism Paradigm Post COVID-19” and the panel speakers were Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Chairman of AESTOM; Ms. Hannah Pearson, Founding Partner of Pear Anderson; Professor Thomas Baum, Tourism Employment at Strathclyde University, UK; Professor Sridar Ramachandran from University Putra Malaysia. The session was moderated by Dr. Puvaneswaran Kunasekaran, Senior Lecturer at Taylor's University, Malaysia and Honorary Treasurer of ATRA.

For the second Tourism Webinar Series, the panel speakers were Mr. Uzaidi Udnis, Chairman of MITA; Professor Datuk Seri Dr. Victor Wee, Secretary General of ATRA; Mr. Sivanantaam, Managing Director at Segar Pj World Transtours Sdn Bhd; Ms. Peggy Ng, General Manager at Discover Orient Holidays and Professor Dr. Parikshat Singh Manhas, University of Jammy, India. The session entitled “Impacts of COVID-19 on Tourism Industry: Opportunities Vs Crisis” held on 19th June 2020 was moderated by Dr. Jeetesh Kumar, Senior Lecture at Taylor’s University, Malaysia.

The third Tourism Series on “Impact of COVID-19 on Aviation Industry” was held on 26th June 2020 and the speakers were Ms. Estee Ng, Country Manager Malaysia & Brunei, Air France-KLM; Ms. Kristina Stosic, Assistant Dean for International Collaboration Development, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket; Ms. Raphiphan Jiamthawibun, Lecturer of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket and moderated by Mr. Nantha Gopal Muniandy, Tourism Academician and Industry Expert.
