Students from the Bachelor of International Tourism Management (Hons.) Event Management programme organised Art & Soul 2021, a virtual make-up competition via Zoom and Facebook live. This event included three workshops: making a bath bomb, crocheting, and oil painting. In addition, as part of Art & Soul, the students held a makeup competition on Facebook Live. Only the top ten shortlisted participants with the most votes were considered for the competition.
The event's goal was to provide a platform for local artists to showcase their incredible talent through workshops, as well as for participants to learn and have fun at the same time. One of the most unique aspects of our workshops was that, once registered, participants would receive a goodie box containing all of the materials they would need for their respective workshops. There were 60 participants in total across three workshops, and students were able to reach more than 100 viewers for their Facebook live. The students are also able to secure two sponsors, MKLZ and COCOdry.
The winners received a total of RM 2100 in cash and vouchers sponsored by the sponsors. Furthermore, students were able to fund their event by selling hand sanitizers, selling 60 workshop slots, and collecting competition registration fees. Students put in a lot of effort from the beginning of the semester to make this final year project a success. As a result, before leaving for their internship, they were able to gain experience planning and preparing for a virtual event. Furthermore, the event concept was included in Taylor's Innofest, and the students received positive feedback on their project.
