Webinar on “US Election 2020: Impact on International Higher Education”


The US elections has recently concluded, and international students in the US and those keen to pursue higher education in the United States have been eager to find out what is in store for them and how the election results will impact US-ASEAN relations, particularly in the area of international higher education. Taylor’s American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP) organized a free webinar on the topic “US Election 2020: Impact on International Higher Education” on 28 November from 10:00-11:30 am.


Three eminent speakers were invited to discuss issues related to international relations, educational opportunities, student visas among other things and shared perspectives on the future of higher education in the US under the Biden administration. They are as follows:

  1. Professor Dr Shakila Yacob is the Executive Director of the International Institute of Public Policy & Management (INPUMA), University of Malaya. Both a business historian and political scientist, Prof. Shakila's research interests are in the areas of business history, international business and comparative politics.

  2. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Guido Benny’s holds a Ph.D. in Strategic and Security Analysis from the National University of Malaysia. He is currently serving as the Program Director for the Bachelor of Social Science at the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Taylor's University.

  3. Ms. Prema Ponnudurai is currently the Head of Department, Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities at Taylor’s University. She is an alumna of the US State Department, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs and completed a Fellowship as a Visiting Scholar at New York University (NYU).
