Part of the Open Day talk that was held in March. An interactive forum sharing session between prospects with academics and industry panel. It was an insightful sharing session where students get to understand what working in the media industry is like and the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the media line. Industry guest speakers were Dr Craig Selby, Co-Founder of Orchan Consulting, Ms. Jazreena Rafiq, Account Manager, IPG Mediabrands & Rubin Khoo, Associate Publisher, Hubert Burda Media Malaysia. Representing academics in the panel is Associate Professor Dr Roslina Abdul Latif and Philip Gan.

An estimated 50 students from SOMAC and SHINE Award participants were given the opportunity to serve as event support staff at the annual prestigious Digital Broadcasting Symposium organised by the Asian Broadcasting Union. This year’s event was held at Royale Chulan Hotel, and was officiated by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia. 5 SOMAC lecturers accompanied the students to the event. This is the 4th year in a row ABU has given Taylor’s University SOMAC students the opportunity to play an active role in providing event support services during this event.

Several faculty members and students attended the annual Digital Broadcasting Symposium held from 4th – 7th March 2019 at the Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The 15th in this series, the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium (DBS) is an annual symposium staged by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) to support its members and other radio and television broadcasters and the media industry. It comprises of an international conference, focused workshops and an industry exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and services from around the world. Minister of Communications and Multimedia, YB Gobind Singh Deo officiated the event.
