Taylor’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events (SHTE) would like to congratulate Mr. Roy Cheng, who is a member of the Hospitality Programme Industry Advisory Panel, on his recent remarkable achievement on the certified entry into the Malaysia Book of Records for “Most Number of External Training Session Conducted for Hotels by an Individual” with 440 training sessions.


In his words “It has been my objective during this pandemic (MCO) to find the time to compile all the group photos for submission and to set a personal record for my lifelong passion in the field of training”.

Two teams of Taylor’s Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Culinology) students from School of Food Studies & Gastronomy (SFSG) won 3rd place in the International Plant-based Food Innovation Challenge 2021, hosted by ProVeg International in partnership with World Animal Protection and various major multinational food companies including Nestle, Unilever, Beyond Meat and others.


They competed against 125 teams who joined the challenge across 10 ASEAN countries and are the only 2 Malaysian teams who won the Top 3 places. The two Taylor’s Culinology® teams (Pietastic and Borderless) impressed the judges with their creative plant-based product ideas, and high feasible business proposals which also highlighting the element of Malaysian and authentic Asian Cuisine.

The School of Education (SoEd) organized a webinar on special education in Malaysia, in conjunction with the World Autism Awareness Day 2021. The webinar focused on the existing challenges and the current situation of children with special needs and education for them. The panelists for this webinar were Prof. Datuk Dr. Yasmin Hussain, Ms. Feilina Feisol, Dr. Grace Annammal Piragasam, and Ms. Sharon Vyner.


The discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. Sopia Md Yassin, a senior research fellow with SoEd. A total of 75 guests attended this webinar. The panelists and audience shared how remote learning has been particularly challenging both for children with disabilities and their parents. The webinar concluded with a discussion on the way forward for special education in Malaysia during and post COVID-19. In addition to that, this event was also featured in the Star Newspaper dated 23 May 2021 and many other media coverage.
