Taylor’s University is proud to announce the successful registration of three cohorts of graduates from the Master of Clinical Psychology programme with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC) as Registered Clinical Psychologists. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication and excellence of our students, faculty, and administrative team in facilitating a seamless transition from academic preparation to professional practice.


The graduates, spanning three consecutive batches from the Master of Clinical Psychology programme, have successfully navigated the MAHPC application and registration process. This registration marks a crucial milestone in their professional journeys, enabling them to officially embark on or continue their careers in mental health practice. For many, this registration serves as the final gateway before fully immersing themselves in clinical work, where they will contribute their skills and expertise to meet the growing demand for mental health services in Malaysia.

What makes this accomplishment particularly noteworthy is the smooth registration process, underscoring the strong collaboration between Taylor’s University and the relevant regulatory bodies. The programme's comprehensive curriculum and practical clinical training ensured that our graduates met all the stringent requirements set by both the MAHPC and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). This success further solidifies the programme’s reputation for producing highly skilled and well-prepared mental health professionals.


Many of these newly Registered Clinical Psychologists have already commenced their careers in private clinics, universities, and community mental health centers across the country, actively contributing to addressing Malaysia’s mental health needs. We are proud to announce that Md. Tariqul Islam, a PhD student in Hospitality and Tourism at the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, has been recognized for his outstanding research contributions. Tariqul is currently pursuing his PhD with a focus on the dynamic relationship between cruise tourism destination branding and economic growth in Penang, Malaysia.

Recently, he presented a research paper titled “Economic Growth of Penang, Malaysia: Does Cruise Tourism Destination Branding Have Real Potential or Just an Illusion?” at the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference: Charting Paths for Responsible Travel (GLOST 2024), hosted by Universitas Bunda Mulia in Indonesia. His work not only captured the attention of peers and experts but also earned him the prestigious Best Paper Award, highlighting the significance and quality of his research.


GLOST 2024 serves as a vital platform uniting stakeholders across the tourism industry to advance sustainable practices. By fostering collaboration among policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and local communities, the conference aims to address critical challenges such as environmental preservation, social equity, and economic sustainability. Prof. Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Leisure Management (FSLM), Dr. Jeetesh Kumar, Head of Research for FSLM, and Dr. Rupam Konar, Programme Director of the Master of Science (Tourism) and Doctor of Philosophy (Hospitality & Tourism), collaborated with Tariqul on the research paper.
