The Taylor’s Barista Club always believe that by standing on the shoulder of giants, we get to see even further. Hence, the club was privileged to have a special guest speaker, Mr. Liew Karweng (2019 ASEAN Brewers Cup Champion & 2019 MBrC 2nd Runner Up) to share his experience working as barista. This event “A Night with Karweng” was attended by audience of shared interest; to build a career path in the coffee industry, on 19th June 2021, via Zoom.
Taylor’s Barista Club President, Ng Yong Pong organized the first guest speaker event of the year with an objective for Taylorians to gain a deeper knowledge of coffee making and exposure towards barista career. Our goal was to inspire and give guidance to anyone who is interested in the coffee industry. The sharing session discussed information about how he becomes a professional barista, the challenges he had to overcome and some of his future plans.
Taylor’s Barista Club is under the purview of Student Engagement & Leadership Development (S.E.A.L), Student Development, Centre of Future Learning, with Mr. Chiew Boon Tian, Senior Lecturer, School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events as the Advisor.
