Chef Thirushaan Gunasakaran, is the Executive Sous Chef of Spago Restaurant by Wolfgang Puck at Marina Bay Sands Singapore. He is an outstanding alumnus of Taylor’s Culinary Institute who has worked at diverse establishments including hotels in the United States, cruise ships, and also in Australia and currently in Singapore. Chef Thirushaan was invited as a guest speaker in our “Professional Chef Series”. He shared his journey on how he became an Executive Sous Chef. This interactive session has opened students’ minds on the route to work their way up in a renowned restaurant group. He also provided much motivation for students who wish to work in such fine dining restaurants.
The objective was to provide an opportunity for students to gain an insight into life after Taylor’s University and the importance of education in the professional world. These alumni who graduated with Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Bachelor are now Executive Sous-Chefs of a big International Restaurant Chain in Singapore. The sharing session was attended by 65 participants from Diploma in Culinary (DC), Advanced Diploma in Patisserie & Gastronomic Cuisine (ADC) and prospective students from Indonesia who will be joining Taylor’s in January.
