Online-based English Entrance Test (EET) or computer-based EET was officially launched in May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Movement Control Order (MCO) implemented by the Malaysian government. The project involved collaboration between Centre for Languages (CFL), e-Learning Academy (eLA) and Office of Admission (OOA) of Taylor’s University. Candidates are evaluated on three language skills: reading, writing, and listening via TIMeS platform.
As of December 2020, 100 candidates have successfully sat for the computer-based EET and joined either a degree level programme or the Intensive English (IEN) programme at Taylor’s University. The EET has paved the way for a smoother admission process at Taylor's University. New students joining Taylor’s University will benefit from this process and experience our first-class e-learning management system platform.
The online-based EET has proven that Taylor’s University has a reliable system to conduct online examination for candidates from all around the world. The test has also helped lecturers to reduce marking time by 50% and hence, results can be delivered within 24 hours. In conclusion, computer-based EET is a successful project conducted by CFL for the year 2020.
