Looking into Future Directions for Education through the Insights from Industry Advisory Panel

Taylor’s School of Education successfully organized its annual Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) Meeting which was officiated by Prof. Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences & Leisure Management (FSLM). The theme was “Inclusive Education: Maximizing Education Opportunity for All” and the agenda included discussion of matters related to efforts on bridging learning gaps among refugees, promoting children’s rights and welfare through education and technology, and educating the urban poor.

A panel which comprised industry experts and academics with relevant experiences and qualifications were invited to the meeting, and more than 30 attendees participated in the meeting. During the panel sharing and discussion sessions, various viewpoints and pertinent issues related to the theme and education in general were enthusiastically shared and deliberated. The attendees were deeply inspired by the insights and vision that all would like to see being realized through the important role every one could play.

The discussion included the need for more research and advocacy work, development of young talents in the teaching profession, critical role of technology, parents and family in education, and adjustment in education post Covid-19.

It was deemed an extremely fruitful meeting in providing input and support to the School of Education’s overall growth and development of programmes and modules.
