Assoc. Prof. Dr. Guido Benny, Programme Director, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SLAS) was invited to a Roundtable Discussion with Australia’s recently appointed Ambassador to ASEAN, H.E Will Nankervis. The invitation was sent by the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. The virtual roundtable discussion was conducted on 28 October 2020 involving 8 renowned International Relations scholars and thinkers in Malaysia.
The general topic for the roundtable is ‘ASEAN pre-occupations and priorities in the lead-up to the summit’ and what role Australia is expected to play in ASEAN Summit 2020. By citing his 2019 empirical research result on public opinion of Great Powers among the public in Malaysia and Indonesia, Dr. Guido Benny provided his views and suggestions on the International Relations and Diplomacy issues and the role that Australia should play in Southeast Asia regionalism.
