School of Education Students Won Gold & Special Award at International Competition 'iTaLIIC 2023'


In the International Teaching & Learning Invention Innovation Competition (iTaLIIC 2023) which was organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), two undergraduate students from Taylor's School of Education named Ms. Tow Wan Tian and Ms. Ishaanaah Ravi have received recognition for their outstanding achievements. They secured both a prestigious Special Award and the Gold Award in higher learning institution student category. This virtual competition revolved around showcasing the innovative teaching practices and digital education through virtual poster presentations.


The competition was divided into three main categories - Primary and Secondary School Students, Higher Learning Institution Students, and Professionals from Academia or Industries. The primary goal of this competition was to provide a platform for educators and students to demonstrate pioneering ideas in pedagogy and the integration of technology into teaching and learning strategies.

The project that secured the awards was titled "EngageVR as a Virtual Classroom Management Simulator for Pre-Service Teachers." This project is aligned with the objectives outlined in 'Taylor's Impact Lab 2: Education for All', which aims to prepare future educators by enhancing their professional development using virtual reality (VR) technology. Furthermore, it seeks to encourage the adoption of diverse digital teaching and learning approaches within classrooms.


The initiative was led by the Senior Lecturer Dr. P. Thivilojana with the contributions from various individuals included Dr. Tan Shin Yen, Senior Lecturer from School of Education; and Dr. Charles Sharma Naidu and Mr. Faisal Athar Mohd Fadzil from VORTEX, Taylor’s University. The project not only represented an innovative approach to teaching and learning but also addresses critical challenges and significance identified in the field of education.
