SOMAC Students Made it as Finalists in Global PR Awards for Diversity and Inclusion

A group of students from the Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) Public Relations and Marketing programme at the School of Media and Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, Taylor’s University, was recently named as one of the finalists in the CSR & Nonprofit Awards or the inaugural Diversity Awards. Both awards will be celebrated at the combined CSR & Diversity Virtual Awards Gala in April 2021. The students were recognized for their moving awareness campaign on promoting mental health care for the disabled and their caregivers entitled “Unmask Your Wounds”.

This is a significant achievement for the students, comprising of Yeoh King Lim, Janice Chai, Clara Teo, Chris Khoo, Steph Tan and their lecturer, Philip Gan. Their achievements were made even more remarkable as they managed to beat big-time international agency campaigns with big budgets. To be named finalists and also the only team to represent Malaysia, this was indeed well-deserved. The team will also be given the opportunity by the organisers of the awards gala, PRNEWS, to present their campaign to an international audience comprising public relations and media professionals.
