After more than a decade of serving a myriad of clients by its first PR agency, ProPassion Communications, School of Media and Communication (SOMAC), Taylor's University Public Relations Entrepreneurial Sandbox has grown bigger, bolder, and ready to scale greater heights. On 17 November 2021, SOMAC launched its second student-led public relations agency - "Venturous PR". This new outfit is geared towards serving the needs of Startups and SMEs, that make up over 90% of all business establishments in Malaysia. As businesses gradually return to normalcy from the devastating impact of the pandemic, Venturous PR will strive to make innovative PR solutions affordable and accessible to small plus medium sized enterprises including tech Startups.
Fueled by imaginative young minds, this newly minted student-agency will strive to elevate the visibility of its clients and their brands through new media technologies and novel communication tactics. The virtual soft launch of Venturous PR was attended by close to 300 participants, comprising students, academics, entrepreneurs from SMEs and industry practitioners. The highlight of the launch was a micro-forum featuring the corporate chieftains from MDEC, Zeno PR & Business Today, who shared their invaluable views on storytelling and insights on the best PR and media practices.
Backed by highly reputable industry mentors, Venturous PR will be ‘Open for Business’ in March 2022, where it will be ready to serve a healthy pipeline of clients (Startups & SMEs) supplied and sponsored by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). Zeno Kuala Lumpur, a highly acclaimed PR Agency under the Edelman Group will provide the necessary backing to ensure Venturous PR is run like a professional consultancy. Lastly, Business Today, a much-respected media outlet in Malaysia will provide the opportunity for our budding PR practitioners to work hand-in-hand with news editors to produce and publish client news.
The Venturous PR agency was conceptualized and incepted by the Public Relations Consultancy class of August 2021, under the Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) PR & Marketing programme. The module leader is Hardip Singh Rekhraj, Senior Lecturer at SOMAC who spent the last two years upskilling his profession by assuming top management roles as a Head of Visibility at MDEC and Vice President of PR at Aerodyne Group, top drone service provider in the world.
