Sustainability and Public Relations with Mr. Ravindran Raman Kutty


The School of Media and Communication has recently organised Public Relations Webinar #8 with Mr. Ravindran Raman Kutty. The theme of the webinar was ‘Sustainability and Public Relations’. Mr. Ravindran Raman Kutty has more than 30 years of experience in corporate communication and is currently the General Manager of Strategic Communications for MRCB George Kent.


During the webinar, he shared the importance of why sustainability is critical in public relations especially during the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic. He also shared some insights on the different ways to report progress and stressed the shift from ‘annual reports’ to ‘sustainability reports’ as the most efficient strategy for a company. His tips on how to strategically manage a company's brand, operation, and reputation and how to never compromise sustainability got the participants engaged throughout his presentation.

The webinar attended by 90 participants, ranging from lecturers and students, were largely from Taylor’s University with a small group of students and lecturers from other higher institutions in the Klang Valley. During the Q & A session, Mr. Ravindran answered questions ranging from how to tackle issues as a public relations practitioner, how to inform the public on the importance of sustainability in this day and age. Mr. Ravindran who is the Industry Advisory Panel for the School of Media and Communication is also a member council of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia. The webinar ended with a word of thanks from the Head of School, Prof. Dr. Kashif Hussain.
