Taylor's Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in International Relations and Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Social Innovation & Change are the degree programmes at the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences with unique Work-Based Learning (WBL) pedagogy. One of the programmes, Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in International Relations, is the one and only WBL Social Science degree in Malaysia specializing in International Relations. The other Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) programme in Social Innovation & Change is the Asian first Social Innovation degree with Work-Based Learning pedagogy. By employing WBL pedagogy, students of these three-year programmes are co-taught by Industry Thought Leaders and University Professors in the first two years of learning on campus. In the final year of study, the student will learn while working in industrial sites, where they will be co-supervised by industrial coaches and university tutor.
The quality of the two programmes is acknowledged internationally, proven by the recent articulation agreement with two leading British universities after it received similar articulation from the University of Sheffield and the University of Leeds last year. In June 2022, the two programmes signed an articulation agreement with the University of Bristol and University of Essex. The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) enables Taylor's Bachelor of Social Science students to be transferred to partner universities. After learning for one or two years at Taylor’s University, they can join for the second or third year of study at a partner institution.
The University of Bristol is among the top UK universities signed articulation MoA with Taylor’s Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in International Relations and Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Social Innovation & Change. The 2023 QS World University Ranking rated this university in the top 61st globally and 9th in the United Kingdom. The University of Bristol is reputable as one of the five most targeted by top UK recruiters (High Fliers Research) and joint seventh for UK graduate employability (QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022). After finishing the first year at one of the two Taylor’s Bachelor of Social Science programmes, students can join their second year at the BSc International Social and Public Policy programme at the University of Bristol. It should be noted that QS World University Rankings has placed the Social Policy and Administration programmes at the University of Bristol in the top 18th globally.
Whereas, University of Essex signed MoA with Taylor’s University, allowing students from the two Bachelor of Social Science programmes to continue their studies in this top UK university. The agreement will enable students to do 1+2 or 2+1 articulation after finishing their first or second year at Taylor’s University. In which students can do articulation in either of these three programmes - BA Liberal Arts, BA Global Studies, or BA Social Change. The University of Essex is ranked in the top 465 in QS World University Rankings 2022. This university also excels in QS World University Ranking by Subject 2022: Rank 50th in Politics (9th in the UK) and International Studies and 55th in Sociology (9th in the UK).
