26 Senior Public Relations (PR) undergrads with zero work experience produced industry-standard deliverables worth RM350k for 7 startups that had little to no PR support in the past, all done and dusted in a whopping 35-day timeframe and highly commended by top-notch professionals of the industry!
After successfully launching the Venturous PR in November 2021, School of Media and Communication (SOMAC) student-led PR agency for startups and SMEs has been open for business since March 2022. Its inaugural set of clients were graciously awarded by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC); seven homegrown startups from MDEC’s Malaysia Digital Hub - Loop Foods, BCN Smart Technologies Sdn Bhd, YesHello - WhatsApp Team Inbox, MyPaaa, Zonar, Virtualtech Frontier and Adzappr.
In just five weeks, 26 senior undergraduates from the Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) PR & Marketing programme developed the following deliverables for each of their startup clients:
Six-month Comms Plan infused with novel ideas, complete with groundwork and easily executable by clients who have no PR know-how
Feature Story published in Business Today
Media Kit for the startups to hit the ground running with press interviews
Brand Kit for consistency in communicating the Corporate Identity (CI)
Professional Photoshoot of the founder(s), team and solutions
Media Training session for the startup founders to fine-tune their storytelling skills
Here’s how the industry will benefit from Taylor's Venturous PR project:
For Startups – Taylor's SOMAC students are fully orientated on the tech ecosystem, the struggles and grit required to innovate and trailblaze. Not surprising, most of them have already been ‘poached’ by their clients!
For Media – Taylor's SOMAC students are capable of producing newsworthy stories that not only piques the interest of editors but investors and partners
For PR Agencies – Taylor's SOMAC students are fully knowledgeable on contemporary PR agency's workings and on providing clients' topmost value
