Whisking Up Memories, Serving New Dreams: Chef Abd Halim’s Journey of Passion and Purpose

The Faculty of Social Sciences & Leisure Management bids a warm and heartfelt farewell to Chef Abd Halim Bin Tumin, who has been an integral part of Taylor’s University since 25 October 2010. For the past 15 years, Chef Halim has passionately shared his expertise in French and Italian Cuisine, Garde Manger, and Food Styling, leaving an enduring impact on generations of aspiring chefs and culinary professionals.
His unwavering dedication to nurturing students, coupled with his creativity and artistry in the kitchen, has not only enriched the student learning experience but also enhanced the faculty’s reputation for culinary excellence.“Teaching has always been about more than just techniques, it’s about shaping character and passion in the next generation of chefs,” Chef Halim reflected.
As he embarks on a new chapter, Chef Halim will pursue his entrepreneurial aspirations as a tempeh and rempeyek producer, while also channelling his culinary flair into his soon-to-be-launched mini café, Ngopi D'Laman, in his hometown of Muar, Johor. Looking ahead with optimism, he shared, “It has been a privilege to teach and grow with Taylor’s, and I am excited to begin this new journey back in my hometown.”
The faculty extends its deepest appreciation for Chef Halim’s invaluable contributions and wishes him every success in this exciting new venture. His legacy of passion, creativity, and dedication will continue to inspire colleagues, students, and the wider culinary community for years to come.
