The Diploma in Hotel Management students Batch 21 Group 3&4 went to Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar (Accor Group) for a visit on 30 May 2019. They were given a brief of the Hotel product and services as well as a warm welcome speech by the General manager Mr. Andrew Carlile. The students were rewarded with gifts during a hotel product quiz. They were escorted through both Front of the House and Back of the House eg: Guestrooms, Pool area, Front Office, Laundry, F&B outlets and the function rooms including the Grand ballroom. We were given a last minute permission to view the kitchen areas by the Executive Chef. All in all, the students had a great learning experience as this enhances their knowledge not only on the product as well the professionalism of the whole visit experience from welcome to end of the visit.

This talk is premised on the conviction that we need new ways of thinking about the old problems and new ways of acting to foster a socially just, non-violent, and ecologically healthy future. Building on the critical scholarly work emanating from the Global South, this presentation focuses on how we might emancipate the academic (and political) vocation in Malaysia (and Southeast Asia) from the shackles of hegemonic western intellectual traditions and methodologies.
