Held in conjunction with Taylor’s Open Day, the “Hi, How Do You Tube?” workshop and launch event was held in LT 1 at 12 noon on the 9th of March 2019. In attendance were the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management (FSLM) Prof. Dr. Neethiananthan Ari Ragavan, the Head of School for the School of Media and Communication Dr. Latiffah Pawanteh, and students and guests from the Open Day.


A workshop on the basics of setting up a YouTube channel for beginners was given by the Programme Director of Broadcasting Mr. Terence Raj, followed by the officiating of the School’s YouTube channel by the Executive Dean, Dr. Neethiananthan. The launch sequence was live-streamed to the SOMAC YouTube channel.


The School of Media and Communication’s own YouTube channel will feature videos from students past and present as well as showcase events that involve the students, staff and admins of SOMAC. The objective of the channel is to be a window into the school’s activities and programmes, as well as to be an effective teaching and learning tool for the Broadcasting students. Prof. Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean for the Faculty of Social Science & Leisure Management spoke during the MoU signing between the Taylor's School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka (DBP). Wacana Malaysia, a research group under the school, has been working on collaborations with DBP on the Malay language, culture, linguistics and Malaysian history.

There was a bidding session on 22nd February 2019 at BG.16. This session is related to the student final group assessment for Events Project Management module (EVT60404), the students are required to prepare an event proposal and bidding their idea in front of invited panels from industry.



The marks were assessed based on their event idea and deliverable during bidding. At the end of the session the panel, Mr. Nadeem and Ms. Nani from Skesh Entertainment have shared their experiences in events with the students.
