On the 10th of July 2019, a total of 35 final year students from B.Sc. Culinology® and B.Sc. Food Science and Nutrition, accompanied by 4 lecturers paid a courtesy visit to Hai Soon Leong Sdn. Bhd. Plant to gain exposure on manufacturing and packaging as well as safety management.


This opportunity serves an eye opener for the student before their internships. The experiences gained enabled them to correlate theory learnt to the practical practices in food processing plants. These insights prepares the prepares the students towards their internships. The students feel appreciated with the arrangement for the plant visitation as well as gifts provided by the company.



Four students from the Bachelor of International Tourism Management (Events Management) programme who emerged as the First Runner-Up in the AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2018 in Goyang, Korea were invited to present their winning proposal at the Singapore MICE Youth Forum that was held from 25 – 26 July 2019 in Resorts World Sentosa recently.


The students and the accompanying lecturer were provided with complementary registration to attend the Singapore MICE Forum that had an exciting programme with key experts from the business event industry. Students had a good time networking with the industry and meeting students from Singapore institutions.


The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events hosted 12 students from the renowned I-Shou University from Taiwan for a summer mobility programme. For 3 weeks the students underwent training in basic coffee, flambé technique, mocktail making, table set up techniques, front office techniques, housekeeping tasks as well tourism modules. It was evident that the students are inspired by the practical components of the programme as reflected in their presentation at the end of the programme. The students received a certificate of completion from the Head of School at the end of the programme and bid farewell with aspiring hopes to join the industry.
