Taylor’s Culinary Institute was featured in the media by local Malaysian newspapers on how Taylor’s University adapted to the hurdle of online education via the Borderless Learning approach provided to the students. A hands-on session of an "Online Macaroon Masterclass with Chef Aaron Tang" was showcased to the media on how the students at Taylor’s University learns the culinary classes during study at Taylor's. The chef demonstrated to the media virtually on producing, preparing, filling, assembling and decorating the macaroons at the professional level. The university was able invested in to the Taylor’s Borderless Learning approach which features state-of-the-art equipment and to help online classes run smoothly to achieve their learning outcome within the safety of their home.

Taylor’s Culinary Institute’s state of the art kitchen is mounted with several instant streaming high-definition cameras which is able to Pan, Tilt and Zoom based on the lecturers need to adapt to the different movements and techniques which are shown to the students. The Lecturers are also equipped with the latest noise cancelling headsets to provide the students with the best audio and explanation without any surrounding noise within the kitchen that may distract the students learning experiences. Aside from the abovementioned features, Taylor’s E-learning masterplan also included the development and deployment of Lightboards which is a glass board that records what lecturers write in real time along with several different features such as Labster, Augmented Reality (AR) and Gamification elements into its learning sessions.

The School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SLAS) is honoured to appoint one Adjunct Professor - Dr Nivashinie Mohan, and two Adjunct Associate Professors - Ms. Loh Sit Fong and Ms. Matilda Xavier for the Master of Clinical Psychology programme for the term 2021 to 2023.

After obtaining her Master of Clinical Psychology, Ms. Loh Sit Fong completed the specialized training in multigenerational family therapy, where she used a systemic approach for her clientele. Additionally, she has extensive years of experience in coaching and conducting brief psychological interventions for corporate clients who are faced with distress in the workplace or presented with mental health issues.


Driven by the scientist-practitioner model, Ms. Loh Sit Fong also has vast experiences in conducting and publishing academic research. Her dedication towards building accessible mental health services started recently and she is also the founding director of her private practice, Silver Lining Psychology Specialist. With extensive and vast experience throughout her career as a Clinical Psychologist, we look forward to working and learning with her.

Another newly appointed Adjunct Associate Professor, Ms. Matilda Xavier has been actively practicing as a Clinical Psychologist for more than 10 years, where her passion includes working with marginalized populations such as the trafficked victims, asylum seekers, and refugees. Ms. Matilda’s experiences in the ‘Medicins Sans Frontieres’ (Doctor Without Borders) and Psychosocial Provider for Mercy Malaysia are among her admirable and esteemed contributions to the people who require psychological first aid, psychological trauma assistance, and crisis management.


She has provided psychological assistance in historical crisis events in Malaysia such as the MH370 plane crash incident and the COVID-19 pandemic. From being a private practitioner to supporting groups of individuals with trauma and crisis, the SLAS is looking forward to having Ms. Matilda in sharing her knowledge, experiences, and expertise to the students, lecturers, and the wider community.

Last by not least, Dr. Nivashinie Mohan the appointed Adjunct Professor is a consultant Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist in Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur and ReGen Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Nivashinie Mohan is a member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS), a member of the Australian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment, a member of the International Neuropsychological Society (INS), and a full member of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology.


On top of that, she has also been elected as the President of the Society of Clinical Neuropsychology in Malaysia in the year 2020, where she contributes to building more awareness on the field of neuropsychology to the public. Being the first few neuropsychologists in Malaysia, she actively contributes her expertise to patients who cope with, adjust to, chronic, traumatic or congenital injuries or illnesses such as traumatic brain injury; stroke, amputations; neuromuscular disorders; medical conditions (i.e., cancer, multiple sclerosis, or limb weakness and chronic pain). Driven by the core principle as a neuropsychologist, she is consistently involved in working interdisciplinary with other healthcare professionals to assist her patients with mental illness in achieving optimal rehabilitation goals. Her distinctive expertise and professional experience are truly an asset for the Master of Clinical Psychology programme.

The School of Liberal Arts and Science is proud to announce our latest appointment, Professor Deborah Turnbull from the University of Adelaide, Australia as our visiting professor for the Master of Clinical Psychology and Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) programmes. Prof. Deborah Turnbull will be engaged in both the programmes for the next two years, from August 2021 to July 2023.


Prof. Deborah holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology (University of Newcastle, NSW, 1990) and a PhD in social epidemiology (University of Sydney, 1992). She has been teaching and researching in psychology for over 25 years. Her main areas of work are in health, clinical and applied psychology and her research programmes include studies in mental health, pregnancy care, cancer screening, cardiovascular psychology and men’s health. She teaches on a broad range of topics including research methods, International Psychology and inter-professional practice.


Her leadership roles include being a Council member of Kathleen Lumley College, the University of Adelaide’s postgraduate college and being the academic lead for internationalization in the School of Psychology. Her professional activities include her role as member and then Chair (Research Advisory Board) of the Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (2010 to 2015) and College of Reviewers, Canadian Institutes of Health Research (invited in 2019). She has received sustained NHMRC research support since 1997 (9 project grants as CI) and has published over 220 papers. She was also awarded the Chair in Psychology at the University of Adelaide in 2005. Prof. Deborah Turnbull also actively participates in the international arena. In 2020 she participated in two grant review rounds for the Canadian Governments rapid response to COVID-19 in 2020.
