It’s not what you know but WHO you know! Does this sound familiar? Well, a group of about 50 undergraduates in the Exhibition Management module listened intently to see if Mr. Kenneth Fong would offer any new perspectives. The Exhibition Management module is part of the Bachelor of International Tourism Management (Hons.) (Events Management) program offered by the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events.

Mr. Kenneth is the Adjunct Associate Professor and Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) of the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events. Also involved in talent development programs, Mr. Kenneth’s passion in sharing his knowledge was evident as discussions stretched beyond the scheduled 1-hour online session. Students continued to pick his brains on how he manages to delicately balance event objectives while continuing to grow relationships with various parties around the world throughout his 20 years in the industry. With events industry practitioners such as Mr. Kenneth Fong, Sales Director of Messe Worldwide Malaysia, students get industry insights to help them hit the ground running when they join the industry once they graduate.

Learning at Taylor’s University is no longer confined within classroom walls as Taylor’s University rises in QS World Rankings by Subject to 16th in the World for Hospitality and Leisure Management subject. At the guest lecture session, students took note of how important it is to have good communication skills, which would contribute to building relationships with various stakeholders in the exhibitions industry. In fact, this tip holds true for the success of any relationship.
